Lifeline Support Toolkit

Managing your mental health after extreme weather

Extreme weather doesn’t just take a toll on our homes, communities, and lives but also on our mental health. From storms and floods, to bushfires and heatwaves, 73% of people report feeling anxious following extreme weather, and 49% of people report depression symptoms.*

At NRMA Insurance, we understand the profound impact extreme weather can have on our emotional wellbeing. As part of our Help Nation initiative, we have partnered with Lifeline to provide a vital resource to help people manage the mental health effects of extreme weather.

Lifeline is a national charity, providing all Australians experiencing emotional distress with access to 24-hour crisis support and suicide prevention services. Lifeline exists so that no person in Australia has to face their toughest moments alone.

From recognising signs of stress and when it’s all getting too much, to the importance of talking about it with someone you trust, the Support Toolkit will provide people with useful practical strategies to help them cope following extreme weather.

The Support Toolkit is also packed with a variety of online resources, so that those who are struggling can reach out for help when they need it.
